Sorry if I went a bit off my topic there! I gotta defend my friends in public schools.

Meet Julie....

I finished that book already. There was tons of history that happened in 1974 so I don't think that I agree with the people that believe that Julie does not make a good Historic doll. I did not get book 2 in her series as it was not at the library  but I have 3, 4  5, and 6 to read.

I enjoyed that book. Mom read it with me. She was born in 1974, so she did not really know or remember all that went on back then. When Mom went to school there were Girl's sports so  it was no big deal to her, but just a few years before that there were not. Mom said she had many female friends that were into basketball, softball, field hockey, volley ball, swim team and she could not imagine that stuff just not being there.

Today if you look at the way budget cuts are happening due to the way the world is right now schools are cutting arts programs. (That was mom's thing) She told me she is afraid that music and arts will be removed from public school in a few years. I know she has gotten into many a facebook argument over the topic, but if they start with cutting arts, and you don't care because it is not your thing, what if your program goes next? We all need to support all the programs public schools offer. If you see a petition to save music in a school or a sports team, we should be like Julie and help make the change.

Sorta makes me glad I am home schooled.... I know my stuff will be here for me.

Peace, love and good karma to the kids that loose due to the shrinking dollar.

Love,
